Such an amazing day for Winifred and I co-hosting our NJ State Partners. Pastor Willie Francois’ pastoral activism is organized around racial equity, economic justice and radical criminal justice and education reforms. Christine Norbut Beyer has been the Commissioner of the NJ Department of Children and Families redefining the agency as a prevention-focused, child and family serving department, with a vision to help keep all New Jerseyans safe, healthy, and connected. Such a powerful conversation!
They say children are the future, it's time to support children and families as we reimagine the future of New Jersey! Our goal is to make NJ the safest place to deliver a baby.
America is the ONLY developed country with these alarming maternal and infant mortality rates. This is not a lack of technology, resources, or skills. We must work to eliminate maternal and infant mortality and morbidity by advocating for comprehensive policy change to disrupt systemic inequities in birth outcomes.
When I started maternal-infant health work in NJ, my New York City born children were already 5 & 7, when I learned that NJ ranked 47th in the nation for maternal and infant mortality. Two years later, I found myself navigating NJ resources when I became pregnant with our third child.
Women are dying in childbirth and we must do something about it. I decided to join hands with other organizations rather than operate in a silo. This is my why, this is why I do what I do as a Productivity Coach, Maternal Health Advocate, and Parent Ambassador.
